Something I have been pondering recently. =)
Why is it that when we look back on history we have certain famous people and events that we focus on, but tend to absolutely ignore the existence, spread throughout the ages, of the 'common people? We think of George Washington, Martin Luther, Abraham Lincoln; those people who "made history", and in a way, perhaps, they did. But we never think about those millions that no human alive today has individual names for, who did nothing to be put in the history books; and yet, if they had not lived, the whole course of history would never have run. Instead of just a faceless multitude, if we think for a moment, we can begin to see them as people - real individual people, who never 'made a name' for themselves, but their own little worlds, their tragedies and triumphs, were just as real and important to them as ours are to us.
And chances are that myself, my family, all my friends, and everyone who reads this post will be a part of that nameless multitude by the time two hundred years have passed. Among those I have mentioned I know that there are incredibly talented and intellegent people, but so there have been before, and no one hears of them now. However, does that make them any less important than those whose names are household words? No, not in the least. And what is really beautiful is that those who carry on with their ordinary lives, day after day after day, do the small things God has placed in their life, and do it for God's glory, are the ones who are really shaping history.

Hello, all! Well, the Rebelution conference was yesterday - and it was AWESOME!! Here are some pics I took: (There are some better ones on my mom's new camera, but she doesn't know how to unload it yet....so I'll post those when she figures it out. =) )

A Forumite meet-up!

Alex signing shirts and books....

Brett signing shirts and books....

A huge attendance!

Us in our shirts.....

Woohoo!
*update*
Sorry this is a little late, but this picture was on my mom's camera that she couldn't figure out how to unload. It's my personal favorite, so I decided to put it up too. :)

a.d. XV Kalendes Maius; a totally random post.
Roman dates. Ok, let me just say that, for many reasons, I'm glad I don't live in ancient Rome. And one of them is their crazy dateing system. (I spelled it that way to keep it from being confused with dating. :P) Anyway, let me explain how they did their calender; there were three main days in the month: the Kalends, the Nones, and the Ides. The Kalends always fell on the first of the month, the Nones fell on the the fifth (Usually. In May, March, October, and June, it feel on the seventh.) The Ides fell on the thirteenth, or the fifteenth in the aforementioned months. All of the other dates were reckoned from these: to express "January 10th" you would say a.d. III Ides Ianuarius, or "three days before the thirteenth of January". For some reason counting forward was not acceptable. So April 19th would be expressed a.d. XV Kalendes Maius; "fifteen days before the first of May". And the years were usually reckoned by who the consul was that year. So if a guy named Marcus Gauis Cornelius was consul, the year was called Marco Gaio Cornelio Consulo....I think. Something like that.
Why did I write this post? I have no idea, actually. :D It just struck me that blogs are supposed be be (in part) about interesting things happening in one's life, and this certainly interested me!

On the Rebelution forums, the Cafe, and the forming of the Sisters of the Armour :p
By Sadie Emma B.
On the evening of June 21, 2007, a young girl walked out of the doors of a large Baptist church in Dallas, Texas. She was happy, tired, and rather deflated, for something she had been looking forward to for weeks was over. She had been at the conference all day, been challenged to Do Hard Things, and had learned about the Rebelution forums, which she had every intention of joining. Over all, it had been a satisfying day.
Exactly a month later, the same girl walked into the kitchen where her mother was cooking. "Mama," she said "they're about to start studying a book on Systematic Theology on the Rebelution forums."
"Is is by Wayne Grudem?" Her mother queried.
"I think so"
"Then I would really like it if you did the study; that is an amazing book. I'll go ahead and order it for you."
Over the next month or so, many Rebelutionarys worked hard on the Cafe; the additional 'room' in the Rebelution forums where the study and discussion was to take place. Some few weeks after the study commenced, the idea of having small discussion groups was formed; some to communicate via Private Message, others by phone over conference calls. By God's grace, Camille, Erica, Lisa, Sadie, Sheila, and Tiffany came together in one of these groups, and decided (after much e-mailing) on the group name Sisters of the Armour; based on Ephesians 6: 11-16, one girl for each part of the armor described therein.
Six months have passed since the first forming of the Sisters of the Armour. It is really amazing to see how God brought us together; we are so exactly right for each other! We got some sweet, goofy girls (I fall in this category; the goofy, at least) , some who are wise and mature, and some who are intelligent and well-balanced. We have out own private group blog, talk over conference calls, memorize scripture together, 'meet' over Webcams, and are all tremendously blessed. Though most of us have not met in real life, we have all gained amazing friends, and look forward to meeting each other someday in heaven!

I love my SOA girls!
